We moved here and realised almost nobody around us actually knew how to slow down. They knew how to take breaks. That is different.
Aahista Stays is our home, minutes from Bir. We have opened four rooms to people who need what we found here — the particular quiet of a place that has no interest in your productivity.
Four rooms on purpose. Small enough to feel personal. Intimate enough that you might actually exhale.
Scroll through each room ——
Valley-facing. Wake up inside the morning clouds. Watch the valley emerge slowly, like a thought you almost forgot.
Forest on one side, terrace access on the other. The room that makes you want to stay in it all day and not feel guilty about it.
Steps from the garden. Deodar shade in the afternoon. The room you come back to and immediately feel the weight lift.
The most private corner of the house. Named by the guests who booked two nights and stayed five.
Monastery bells drift up from the valley at 6am. Himalayan magpies arrive before you do. The fog sits over the hills like it owns the place. Nobody is waiting for you to be anywhere.
The paragliding landing site is five minutes on foot. The trails go deeper into deodar forest if you want them to. Or stay in. The hammock holds two. Both are fine.
The cafes on the Bir strip are five minutes away. Or dinner here, when the air turns cool. A fire when it turns cold. The stars over the Kangra Valley are unreasonably good.
We know this is the part of every homestay website where the copy goes vague. These are the actual decisions, in plain language.
Sleepwell mattress, medium-firm. We slept on it ourselves for a week before anyone else did. Linen washed at 60°C before every stay and dried in the mountain air. Nights here get cold. You will not be.
Attached, private. Hot water in 30 seconds — we timed it. Cleaned every morning before 7am and again after every checkout. No bathtub. A good shower, shelf space, and a hook that actually holds a towel.
1 Gbps fibre. Yes, really. The password is on the desk. We did not hide it. We just quietly hope you forget about it.
The wood was finished by a carpenter in Bir. Honey at breakfast from the Kangra valley. Produce from the local market, bought that morning. Bir has good things. We used them.
No television. We thought about it for longer than we should admit. If that is a dealbreaker, we are probably not the right place for you — and that is genuinely okay.
We are in Suja — a quiet village five minutes from Bir. Close enough to walk to the paragliding landing site, the cafes, and the Tibetan colony. Far enough to actually sleep at night.
Buddhist monasteries, deodar forests, and a town that runs at the pace of a conversation, not a calendar. The Kangra Valley spread out below you at 1,525 metres.
Minutes on foot to the Bir paragliding landing site and the main strip of cafes
Above sea level in the Kangra Valley — cool nights, clear mornings, unreasonably good stars
From Delhi — overnight train to Pathankot, then the road through the hills
Open in all seasons — each one completely different from the last
